Library Park Projects
The City of Brownsville would like to give special thanks to Rick Dominguez, Brownsville Resident, and Robert Dominguez of the Veterans of the 20th Century for their interest in improving the Library Park. They presented proposals to the Parks and Open Space Advisory Board, the Historic Review Board and Council to place concrete benches honoring American Veterans.
With the volunteer help of Jason Curtis, Curtis Excavating, Ben Swartzendruber, Swartzendruber Construction and Todd Karo & Rich Hillsman of Karo Construction the project came into being. Jason prepared the site, Ben did a fantastic job rip rapping the culvert pipe by the Menefee Trail and Todd & Rich did beautiful concrete work on the ninety foot stretch of sidewalk.
Volunteers helping with the construction also included Kevin Rogers and Neal Karo of the Brownsville Rural Fire Department, Andrew Wenger, Oscar Medina and the City's Public Works Department. Supervision was provided at no charge by Sue Karo!

The Parks & Opens Space Advisory Board and the Council had agreed some time ago to allow Team Depot from Eugene, Oregon to perform a community service project in Brownsville. Team Depot had primarily focused their community outreach efforts to the City of Eugene and have decided to branch out to other areas. We were certainly the beneficiary of their generosity. Len Baer oragnized twenty-five volunteers from three different Home Depot stores and Home Depot Corporate gave the City a $2,000 gift card to complete the project. Mike Nehls of Native Grounds Nursery also gave a donation of his time, expertise and many plants from his local nursery. Mrs. Sherri Lemhouse and Mrs. Sandy Sayer lent the City their talents in planning the landscaping, purchasing plants and doing many, many things in relation to the overall success of the Library through the Friends of the Library. The Women's Study Club provided assistance with lunch as well as volunteering for the installation of the landscaping. Bella Cuccina provided a fantastic lunch for all participants. The City Public Works Department headed by Mr. Karl Frink, worked dilligently on the project from start finish. All in all everyone had a wonderful time working together and the results have been outstanding. The Council would like to thank all of the parties invovled for the efforts and cooperation in making the Brownsville Community Library beautiful once again.
